LEED™

First Mesa Elementary School
Baca Dlo' Ay Azhi Consolidated Replacement School

Dyron Murphy Architects, P.C. is a LEED™ (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™ Accredited architecture firm. LEED™ is a voluntary, concensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.

Dyron Murphy Architects, P.C. completed the first LEED™ certified building in the State of New Mexico. The Baca Dlo’ay Azhi Community School is a 79,000 square feet elementary school that incorporates both environmentally sound and culturally appropriate design and construction elements.

The 75,000 sqft First Mesa Elementary School in Polacca, Arizona was also LEED™ certified. This was a Dyron Murphy Architects, P.C. project. Another one of our projects was the design documents for the 50,000 sqft Shiprock Multi-Purpose Center. It is also on track to become LEED™ certified.

The new USDOL Job Corps Dormitory in Albuquerque, NM, is expected to achieve a Gold or Platinum LEED™ rating. The building is designed to achieve at least 45% energy savings, and incorporates an extremely high percentage of recycled and regionally produced materials. The mechanical and plumbing systems are simple and exceptionally energy-efficient. Almost all of the technologies and strategies employed with this project will be highly applicable to future educational projects.

Our team of LEED™experts is unrivaled in terms of expertise, committment and achievement. We are the only team in New Mexico with extensive LEED™ experience and a track record of success.

Many firms have attempted to achieve LEED™ certifications for their clients, but have failed as budgetary and programmatic factors eroded the LEED™ component of the project. Our approach involves a reliance on teamwork and a system that involves the owner and contractor to the fullest possible extent. DMA offers a total team approach in which each member of the project team has a clear understanding of the goals and objectives of the LEED™effort, and is committed to achieving them at the lowest possible cost.

There is no question that the initial costs associated with a LEED™ certified building are higher than conventional construction. We believe that the additional design, documentation and materials costs are more than offset by reduced operating and maintenance expenses. We will work with you to develop a budget and LEED™ strategy that meets your specific needs.
